Preliminary assessments of recent business activity indicates that trade at Port of Townsville is forecast to supersede 10 million tonnes to as much as 32 million tonnes in coming years. Townsville is home to Queensland's third largest multi-cargo port with a diverse product base. Our port facilities are well adapted to handle bulk cargo with current facilities developed to service the sugar industry, Queensland Nickel Limited and products of the North West Mineral Province including bulk copper, lead and zinc concentrates and fertiliser. There is sufficient infrastructure capacity within our Inner Harbour to accommodate growth in bulk products, containers and general cargo, with significant expansion potential within the Outer Harbour which could readily accommodate additional infrastructure development required for new projects.
