Welcome to the Port of Townsville’s Safety, Security & Environmental Induction Program. This program is available for use by Port employees, Port users, contractors and visitors. Please read the following information carefully before proceeding to the induction.

The Port of Townsville will not assist you with any issues relating to browser compatibility with the Online Induction system. Please contact your IT support technician for help.

You are required to register your personal/business details before gaining access to the program.

The type of induction you are required to register for and successfully complete depends on the nature of your business within the Port. There are two types of inductions:

• Contractor Induction: personnel employed by or coming to Port of Townsville / Lessee controlled sites to undertake work.
• Visitor Induction: persons visiting or travelling through the Port of Townsville.

Each online induction program involves several core modules which you will be able to read and/or listen to, followed by a series of multiple choice questions which you will be required to complete. Details of each induction are outlined below.

Contractor Induction

The Contractor induction is compulsory for all Port employees, Port users, and contractors working within the Port. The Contractor Induction includes; Brief description on all Berths, Legislative obligations, traffic management, hazard and incident management, safe work methods, fitness for work, emergency management, Port safety rules, Port security and environmental responsibilities.

Visitor Induction

The Visitor induction is compulsory for all visitors entering the Port. The Visitor Induction includes; traffic management, hazard and incident management, fitness for work, emergency management, Port security and environmental responsibilities.

Registration Fees

The induction process will take approximately 30 – 40 minutes (Contractor Induction) and 10 minutes (visitors Induction) to complete and will incur a fee of $33.00 + GST per annum. Your official induction card will be renewed annually based on the Induction card anniversary date.

On successful completion of the required induction program, please print the certificate and present to the Port of Townsville’s Administration Office located on Benwell Road to organise payment and receive your official Induction card.
