2006 Townsville Region Export Awards launch

THE region’s top exporters, business and government leaders will gather tomorrow, Tuesday, 16 May 2006, to officially launch the 2006 Townsville Region Export Awards.

Ms. Lindy Nelson Carr, Member for Mundingburra, will officially open nominations for the awards that recognise exporting excellence by companies in the region and the state.

Pacific Princess returns to Townsville

The cruise ship, Pacific Princess will dock in the Port of Townsville on Thursday, 20 April, with almost 670 passengers and 360 crew on board, ready to experience the city of Townsville.

The vessel, which was launched in November 2001, will stay for one day in Townsville. It will arrive in Port a day earlier than expected due to cyclone Monica north of Cairns.

US Navy Training in Townsville

US military forces have commenced a training exercise in South Townsville. At 3.30 this afternoon, a US Navy hovercraft will land on the South Townsville beach off Benwell Road.

Townsville Port Authority Saves Magnetic Island Swim

Townsville Port Authority has come to the aid of the annual Magnetic Island to Townsville Swim by donating $6,000 to the association to run the event. Until today, the future of the event was tenuous, with fears of collapse and concerns about sponsorships.
