The value of international trade through the Port of Townsville in the 2006/2007 financial year has set a new record with the overall value of international exports and imports totalling over $6.2 billion. This represents an increase of 12 per cent on the previous year’s total of $5.49 billion.

Record livestock exports and new trade opportunities marked a strong trading year for the Port of Townsville in 2006/2007.
Transport Minister John Mickel said the port continued to be a major contributor to the north Queensland economy. Mr Mickel today tabled the Townsville Port Authority's annual report in Queensland Parliament.

Army Reserve Training Exercise at the Port of Townsville |

The Australian Army Reserve, Royal Australian Engineers will be conducting a comprehensive training exercise in the Port of Townsville this weekend.
On Saturday, 27th October, the Engineers of 35 Field Squadron will conduct a training exercise that involves security activities, which include specialised search techniques and vehicle check point controls throughout the port facility.
