The Prime Minister announced today that the Australian Government will provide $95 million towards the construction of the Townsville Port Access Road.

This matches the Queensland Government provision of $95 million and enables the road to begin construction.

The Road will be funded as part of the AusLink National Network.

This link will provide a long-term strategic highway link to the Port of Townsville supporting the growth of the region’s export industries.

Townsville Port Authority has worked closely with relevant stakeholders to actively promote the Port Access Corridor as a vital project of regional significance.

This project has been high on the list of priorities for both the Port of Townsville and the region and its construction will continue to play an integral role in the future growth of the local economy.
