Located 1,360 kilometres north of Brisbane, The Port of Townsville is a world-class gateway for trade and investment.
The Port of Townsville can facilitate tours for a variety of groups including corporate, community and school groups. The port can also assist with the hire of buses for groups that do not have access to their own transport.
Guided tours of the port generally take between 30 and 45 minutes and include inspections of each different area of the port including the eight operational berths.
Tours can be facilitated and tailored to suit the requirements of each group. Presentations can be requested at the time of booking. Topics include Port Expansion Project, Channel Capacity Upgrade, environmental, supply chain and more.
Primary and Secondary teachers of subjects such as Geography, Science, Technology and Interconnections often use the tour as a interactive learning experience, at times incorporating the tour into their curriculum studies.
Being an operational port, shipping movements are 24/7. Students will experience the behind the scenes look at operations, raising their interest and knowledge of how the Port benefits their lives. Students can see in real time what happens at the Port and how they can be involved in its future.
