In June 2017 the Port of Townsville issued a licence for port towage services with Smit Lamnalco for five years, with an option for two additional years.
Smit Lamnalco maintains three azimuth stern drive tugs in the port: SL Herbert and SL Leichardt, both Damen-built 2810 design vessels of 58 tonnes bollard pull. The two tugs are supplemented by SL Gibson, an Imamura Shipyard-built vessel producing 57 tonnes bollard pull.
Towage services are as per the The Smit Lamnalco Australia Standard Towage Agreement (incorporating the United Kingdom Standard Conditions for Towage and Other Services (revised 1986). A copy is available here
